When you’re planning your wedding, you want everything to be perfect. Having been a bride a few years ago, I remember the hustle and bustle very well. There’s a lot of stress that goes along with the planning. But part of the preparations for your wedding can also give you some relaxation and me time. (And believe me when I say, you’re going to need some R&R). One of those things to help you relax is preparing for your bridal manicure.
Your wedding day is your day to shine, so if you’re like me, you’ll want to look and feel beautiful. And having a beautiful manicure will help you feel great and show off your wedding ring for your photos.

How to Prepare for your Bridal Manicure
Preparation for your bridal manicure is key. You’ll want your hands, nails, and cuticles in great condition so your bridal manicure will be perfect. The Awesome Muse turned to celebrity manicurist Skyy Hadley of As U Wish Nail Spa for her favorite tips on how to prepare for your bridal manicure.
Skyy recommends all brides (and anyone who loves a gorgeous manicure) to keep their hands and nails hydrated. Follow her tips below for the best results:
- The best thing brides can do is to keep their nails moisturized at all times. When your nails dry out they become brittle leading to chips and cracks.
- Use an oil on your cuticles nightly before bed to keep the skin around them conditioned.
- Protein on the nails is a must to keep them flexible. If nails stay hard, they will break easily. A healthy, balanced diet is essential to the health of your nails.
Selecting the Perfect Nail Polish for your Wedding Day
When I’m selecting a polish, I like something that is not only a color that I love, but that will also deliver high-shine, has a long-lasting finish, and is chip-resistant. These days, I’m also looking for a polish that is 5-free so that I’m not putting toxins on my nails, and it’s a bonus if it’s also vegan and made in the USA. So one of my favorite polishes is from Lauren B. Her polishes tick these boxes, and the colors are stunning.
Lauren B’s wedding colors are her most delicate shades yet. They are all subtle enough to wear to a traditional wedding, but you’ll want to wear these shades year round too. Shades of light pink, peach, purple and blue are found in the collection – some of them are creamy while others are perfectly translucent.
Lauren took her inspiration from her own wedding. An Angeleno like me, this collection is inspired by the estate and vineyard she chose for her wedding, Rancho sol del Pacifico. It’s set high up in the mountains above Malibu’s beach. You can see some of the most amazing sunsets from there.
Gorgeous Colors from Lauren B
You can’t go wrong with one of these shades for you and the members of your wedding party. Your bridesmaids will love them too.
Beach Bride – Reminiscent of barefoot weddings, this sheer, light sand tone truly goes with everything. And it has just enough depth to flatter all skin tones. (Fun fact: It’s similar to her popular Nude 3 polish, but with cooler undertones.)
Blushing Bridesmaids – A translucent whisper of pink with warm, peachy undertones: ultrafeminine and opulent.
Love – A cool, sheer petal pink, this gives you the look of immaculately manicured nails with an extra burst of glossiness.
Parade of Peonies – A more daring way to shine while still staying classic. This soft, creamy pink is only semi-transparent, with rosy undertones that have a fresh effect on all skin tones.
Buttercream Tiers – This shade’s glistening shine and sheer, peachy tint make for the prettiest neutral. It naturally brightens all skin tones; the way it leaves nails looking healthy and gleaming is just the icing on the cake.
Ceremony at Sunset – Wear this gorgeous, semi-sheer mauve anytime you want to look romantic and refined. A touch of pearlescence gives the shade extra dimension; warm, rosy undertones make it sexy and flattering on everyone.
Champagne Toast – Tinged with lilac, gray and a hint of pearl, this champagne beige is almost holographic – and gorgeously hip. One swipe produces a delicate silver sheen that’s sexy and unexpected, in a dreamy way.
Dancing Shoes – The perfect marriage of taupe and rose gold, this glinty opaque polish levels out perfectly, for a bold metallic finish that looks glassy and effortlessly cool.
Vows Over the Pacific – The kind of breezy, grayish-light blue that makes us think of the line where the ocean meets the sky. Thanks to milky undertones, it’s infinitely easier to wear than most blue polishes. And the fact that it’s subtle makes it the perfect “something blue.”
You can’t go wrong with these shades. They will coordinate with so many wedding palettes. With these gorgeous polishes from Lauren B and a nail prep plan from Skyy Hadley, your bridal manicure will be stellar.

About Lauren B
After graduating college and a year into perusing a career in medicine, Lauren B realized there was something missing. Lauren began working for a luxury hair care brand, and learned the ins and outs of the industry. She seized this opportunity, and as she moved into the high-end beauty world, her knowledge for luxury brands, and interest in nail care evolved.
“Lauren says that she “was traveling a lot internationally, so I got to try polishes and ingredients from around the world,” she remembers. “If we were in a salon that had a manicurist, I was right there picking her brain and getting insider tips and tricks. The first thing I realized was that there was no perfect brand: Some lines had great colors but they didn’t last long enough. Others stayed put but contained harsh ingredients or gradually lost their shine. None of them offered the right balance of luxury and ease. That’s when the light bulb went off: I can make what’s missing.”
With the support of her family, Lauren carted her demanding wish list to the world’s top chemists and set about creating the perfect brand. The result, she says, is “the perfect, two-week, do-it-yourself manicure for busy women. The polishes swipe on expertly, easily. They dry fast, stay delightfully glossy and chip-free for at least 14 days, and don’t cost a fortune. Every color is one that I’d wear; every treatment is one that I swear by. I even created a perfect nude for every skin tone – though actually, I wear them all.”
