Las Vegas. When you are planning to visit the party capital of America, you need to be ready with some essentials to help you feel and look fantastic.
Whether it’s a quick, overnight a road trip or a full week’s vacation, you need to pack some essentials that do double duty AND support an on-the-go trip.
My Top 10 Must Haves for a trip to Las Vegas
1). Smashbox’s Photo Finish Primer Oil
I have dry skin, so when I’m planning to party, I need to prepare for dehydration issues. My skin likes a little boost, and I find that the Photo Finish Primer Oil does a really nice job not only as a primer but also as a boost for my moisturizer. I can add a few drops to my evening moisturizer and wake up with skin that looks refreshed, even if I only got a few hours of sleep.
2) Aniise Natural Skin Care Wrinkle-Free Eye Cream
It goes without saying that Las Vegas and dark circles go hand-in-hand. But you don’t have to have dark circles as a badge of honor. Using a great eye cream like this one from Aniise can really help your eyes to look and feel rejuvenated with the added benefit of anti-aging properties.
3) L’Oreal’s Lumi Cushion Buildable Foundation
I love a great buildable foundation. The thing that works so well with the Lumi Cushion is it truly lets you control your coverage. If I only need to tone down some rosy cheeks, I can do that. If I need to build a bit more to cover some shadows or tired skin, I can do that. If I need a full coverage foundation, I can continue to build and blend until I achieve the look I desire.
I was first introduced to the Lumi Cushion by celebrity makeup artist, Sir John, who did my makeup during Oscar week earlier this year. He is responsible for creating some of Beyonce’s most iconic looks.
4) T’zikal New York’s Smooth Styling Wax
Las Vegas’s weather tends to wreck my hair. The heat makes it dry and my hair can also get a bit frizzy. What I like about this styling wax from T’zikal New York is that it is lightweight. It doesn’t feel heavy like many waxes. It’s particularly well-suited for braids and up-dos or even a casual pony. It’s terrific for taming those short face-framing flyaways too!
5) Glow For a Cause’s Body Butter in Wander
Again, my skin gets really dry in Las Vegas, so I need to really moisturize. The great thing about Glow For a Cause’s Body Butter is that it’s a rich moisturizer with a fragrance designed to work in place of a perfume. So I get the moisture I need, and I don’t have to pack a second product! And what else is great? Whenever you make a purchase from Glow For a Cause, your purchase supports a really terrific cause like breast cancer awareness. So I can smell great in Vegas AND put a little good back into the world.
6) Pocket Poppet’s Classic Poppet Jacket
One of the things about packing for Vegas is layering. I like to have a lightweight sweater or coat with me for when I’m going to a nice dinner or show. The air-conditioning can be pretty cold, particularly when it’s sweltering outside, so the jackets by Pocket Poppet are just perfect. These jackets fold up into a tiny pouch that can fit in your handbag. When you need it, remove the pouch, unfurl the poppet and voila! You have a wrinkle-free jacket that goes with most day to night styles. I’ve been able to style my classic poppet with dresses as well as jeans and tank tops.
Update: Sadly, the Pocket Poppet is no longer available.

7) Wipeaholics Beauty Wipes from Savvy Travelers
I LOVE these wipes! Savvy Travelers has really outdone themselves for those of us who are always on-the-go with their subscription service called Wipeaholics. Each month, you get a fantastic set of wipes that do everything you need so you don’t have to pack a lot of supplies in your carry-on bag. They send wipes to clean surfaces, act as a personal deodorant, take off your makeup, clean your glasses or screens, wash your hands, and freshen your breath! It’s a really convenient service. If you should decide to give it a try, be sure to use my discount code MUSE when you order to save 20%.
8) Gerard Cosmetic’s Hydra Matte Lip Color (my fave is Plum Crazy)
When I’m sipping something delicious, I don’t want to have to worry about my lipstick. With Gerard’s Hydra Matte lip color, your lipstick isn’t going anywhere. Seriously. Apply it with precision because it will stay where you put it. It doesn’t feel drying like a lot of long wearing matte formulas, and it really does last all day. I’ve had it last from morning to night and survive 3 meals and several beverages.
9) My Magic Opener combo for opening difficult bottles for pre-parties in the hotel
Alright, this should be in every party girls party bag. The Magic Opener is truly magic. If you have a hard time with opening bottles (or cans or jars) you really need a set of these. It makes it so much easier to open what you need without getting a cramp in your hand or breaking a nail. Here’s a tutorial on how to use it since it’s quite unlike traditional openers.
10) Brixlee and Co’s “Yay or Cabernet” t-shirt to wear as a cover-up while relaxing poolside.
Oh yeah! When I’m reclining poolside, I want to look totally cute and relaxed but ready to party. With this adorable, eco-conscious, super soft t-shirt from Brixlee and Co., you can go from poolside cover-up to casino ready when you add a pair of shorts or jeans.
And there you have it! I hope you enjoyed my Top Ten list of what I’m packing in my carry-on to Las Vegas.
